EARLY FAMILIES

The Siglers, Mundells, and Hursts were families who came here in 1837. They were related to one another. They left Virginia by covered wagon in 1834, lived in Elkhart, Indiana for three years, and then settled in Lake County. Samuel and Ann Sigler were the parents of Melvina Mundell and Elmira Hurst, their married daughters. The Siglers settled at Liverpool Road and the Old Sac Trail (Ridge Road today). They were just a short distance from the settlement of George Earle. William and Elmira Hurst settled a mile south of the Siglers, and Joseph and Melvina Mundell settled on Ridge Road near Wisconsin
Street.
