FOUNDER

George Earle came to this country from England. At first he went to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he built brick buildings. The adventures of the wild called to him, and he left with his wife and son and came to settle at Liverpool. The trees (for wood) actually brought him to this area. He ran a store, but found Liverpool did not prosper so he moved to what is now called Hobart in 1846. He named Hobart after his brother Frederick Hobart Earle.
